The Justerini and Brooks Prince of Wales Cup 2017

Saturday 1st July welcomed the team from Justerini and Brooks along with the Rolls Royce Enthusiasts Club and many fabulous spectators to the Prince of Wales Cup Finals. The final saw Beaufort Black Hounds up against Foxcote. The Beaufort Black Hounds had won all their previous games and posed an intimidating threat, albeit, Foxcote fought hard throughout looking like they would take catch up to the 3-goal lead achieved by Black Hounds in the first chukka but just missing out with the Black Hounds continuing a steady lead through the second, and then lengthening the distance between scores in the third and final chukkas to take an impressive win of 8 goals to 4.

The subsidiary final saw a closer game between Justerini and Brooks and Foxcote. Justerini and Brooks took the lead in the first two chukkas but the 2 ½ goal lead was short-lived in the 2nd chukka as Foxcote got competitive and game rallying back to bring the score to only a ½ goal difference to Justerini and Brooks in the 3rd Chukka. Foxcote continued the battle with the goals going one after another but Justerini managed to slide in an extra goal to lengthen the difference to 1 ½ goals in the last moments of the last chukka!

We were very impressed with all teams and their gallant effort throughout the tournament, they were competitive and passionate providing some great polo for the spectators. As usual we thank everyone who came to all the games, our fabulous groundsmen, the scoreboard dream team, and the wonderful sponsors Justerini and Brooks.
