It is with sadness and regret that Beaufort Polo Club – host of the annual Gloucestershire Festival of Polo, announces there will be no event this year.
It had been hoped that the very popular event, which usually takes place in June, could be re-scheduled for late summer, however the financial risk of committing to the high level of infrastructure required is considered too great with ongoing volatility regarding the pandemic and in relation to public events.
Commenting, Mark Tomlinson of Beaufort Polo Club said :
This has been a difficult decision and not one taken lightly by the Club. We have built a very successful and popular event over the years, and to cancel for a second season is obviously disappointing. We had sincerely hoped to deliver another thrilling event this year, and to provide a great backdrop to top quality polo and opportunities for our valued sponsors and traders. We were of course also looking forward to welcoming back the many thousands of visitors who have made the weekend-long event a regular date in their diaries. We must be sensible however, in regard to financial viability, so this tough decision has been made to ensure we can host another great Festival again in the future.
Dates for next year’s Gloucestershire Festival of Polo will be released this summer and it is expected to take place sometime in June 2022.
